Services of Ceramic Tile Installation
When installing tiles, a tile edging strip is used to hold the tile along the carpet, wood flooring and other entry ways. The tile is held in place when the thin set is spread first followed by the edging strip which is set into the mortar. Tiling of the floor is followed through a known procedure. Tiling of the floor involves use of materials which are; tiles, tile and grout sealer, tile under-layment, thin set, grout release agent and grout. So that the process of laying a new tile floor is accomplished then there are tools that are used. Some tools are used in tiling the floor and they include; wet saw, tape measure, level, chalk line, tile spacers, grout float and sponge.
Six steps are involved in laying the new tile floor. Preparing the substrate, laying out the pattern, making the cuts, applying the mastic, laying the tiles and grouting the joints are the steps involved in laying of the new tiles. Plywood subflooring, cement board, a mortar base and existing tile are examples of substrate used during preparation of the substrate.
When laying a new tile over the old one then the original tile and the grout must be securely attached and a patching compound used to fill in the broken or missing tiles. A new adhesive or mortar is provided for a better grip when scuffing of the old tile is done. So as to prevent adhesion then washing of the floor is done using a commercial detergent which removes remove dirt, soap film and other contaminants. A durable finished floor is obtained by tiling over the mortar or thin sets which prepares the original floor with a solid level base.
Experience is required when using the mortar as its difficult work with in terms of leveling on the floor and properly mixing it. Mastic ceramic tile is a pre-mixed adhesive that is easy to use right from the packaging material which is the can and bonds well to almost every surface. Reinforcing with fiberglass is done with a highly stable cement based sheet. The cement board is installed with special screws that is recommended by the manufacturer. After preparation of the substrate the next process is laying out the pattern which involves measuring the floor then snapping a chalk line down the middle of the floor’s longest dimension.
A second line is then marked across the middle of the floor’s shortest dimension resulting to dividing the room into quadrants in which the process of tiling begins. Layering of the mastic ceramic tiles is done along the lines while reaching the walls in each direction whereby this is done after checking out the layout. The use of social media has been taken advantage of by floor and ceramic tile installation services.
